Just in Case Emergency kit

It is 2012, who knows what can happen! As a long-time mountaineer and outdoorsman, my worst-case-scenario bag is always stocked.  Here are a few things you might also want to grab in case of emergency:

From top left across:

  • Camping pots and pans with hand sanitizer
  • duct tape – (if you only have one thing, this should be it)
  • commemorative Myspace.com hankerchief
  • lighter
  • road atlas
  • spare sunglasses
  • snake bite kit (you never know..)
  • mosquito repellant
  • Leatherman
  • sharper knife (in case we have to cut any limbs off)
  • spare poncho
  • bungee cord, nylon webbing and rope
  • Camp Suds – environmentally friendly soap
  • first aid kit: bandaids, wet wipes, all that good stuff
  • Water treatment chemicals
  • toothbrush and toothpaste
  • hand-crank generator FM radio and flashlight (my mom gave it to me for just such a circumstance..)
  • water filter
  • TP
  • bottle opener
  • another lighter
  • zip ties
  • emergency whistle
  • electrical tape
  • Flashlight and spare batteries
  • 19 packets of Folgers instant coffee (NEED my cup of coffee in the morning!)
  • various snacks – Snickers, Cliff Bars
  • cell phone charger
  • Hand warmers (pretty sure I won’t need this but just in case)
  • Bear safety tips booklet (also ready for double dip recession!)

All packed into a neat to-go bag ready for anything.

The few items I opted against bringing:

  • Commemorative Rocketts martini glasses
  • Rubber devil ducky (seemed like this is sending the wrong message)

So there you have it, stock up friends, and see you on the other side!
