Log of a Colorado Girl
Erin Hopkins
Visiting the east coast forced me to
ask certain questions: Nature's reminders to stay focused on the
simple things that mattered were gone. Nothing is simple. Grocery
shopping? Ha. Parking? Joke... |

Flat desert space extends for hundreds
of miles. This flat space is occasionally broken to reveal thousands
of years of development and erosion. Although the land is sparse,
it is very inviting... |
How

New Years Picks
No matter where you're at, consider
these options. Don't let 2003 pass without a main event. Celebrate
New Year's Eve wisely and let us suggest a place to stay... |

|
| Taking a
first look at Rob's blueprints, you'll notice the foundation of
this installation—and any good festival flag—is the
car. Using FedEx tubes as the protruding skeleton of the fixture,
we'll prepare a spot in the shade with stretched layers of lycra.
The flaring porch covers are essential when combating the noon-time
sun as your team rests up for a night of festivities.
And the installation is born... |
|
It is good to build this installation
around a car with a roof rack. Plenty of places to fasten the skeleton
will save time and provide a sturdy base. |

Begin the process by building A) three two-tube sections
and B) one three-tube section. |

While
this design calls for 9 boxes, we found it beneficial to bring at
least two extras—just in case. (Continued on page 3, below.)
